Is Your Load Towable “As Is”?
AKAT provides price quotes and transport for “LOADS” that are ready to be towed “as is.”
By LOADS we mean 5th wheel RVs, travel trailer RVs, camper RVs, horse trailers, trailer-mounted boats, or any type of cargo or freight mounted on a trailer.
By As Is we mean that nothing is preventing the load from being successfully hitched and towed to your desired destination.
If you are not sure if your load is ready to tow as is, please read below about…
Conditions that may prevent towing:
- Your RV or trailer is not roadworthy, i.e.,
- dry-rotted tire(s)
- flat tire(s);
- unsafe condition of any component of trailer and hitch; or…
- Your RV or trailer is not easily and immediately accessible to be hitched and moved because it is;
- Blocked by other vehicles or trailers (our drivers cannot move other trailers or vehicles for you);
- Locked to another hitch;
- Sitting in a field or other location which, in our driver’s sole estimation, has unsafe / uneven access.
- The load is not mounted on a trailer, or it is, but is unbalanced, or otherwise not mounted securely;
— By not mounted, we mean the cargo, whatever it is, is not on the trailer yet. We cannot load trailers for you, or pull a boat from the water and on to a trailer for you.
— Unbalanced means that weight is not distributed correctly, i.e., excess weight on back or front of trailer.
— By not mounted securely, we mean that the cargo, whatever it is, is loosely mounted or fastened, and could shift position or even fall off the trailer during transit.
If you believe you can remedy any problem condition(s) to towable “as is”, please request a quote, and include a comment about the issue(s) to be resolved. We will discuss any issues with you after you have accepted our price quote. Accepting an AKAT price quote is a preliminary step, and does not obligate you to use our service. Also, no deposit is required to accept a quote.
Other conditions that may prevent towing
Once our driver gets to your pick-up location, he or she will visually check that your RV or loaded trailer matches the specifications you provided for the price quote. Here are two examples that could result in a tow cancellation or delay:
- The RV, trailer or trailer-mounted cargo exceeds quoted dimensions or other limits stated in the quote. Total length includes trailer tongue if applicable. Max RV or trailer width is 12 ft. Max height is 15 ft. Max length is 45 ft.
- Hitch type specified in quote is not correct. For example, bumper-pull was specified and your RV is a 5th-wheel.
