Common Hitch Types for Towing
When you request a tow transport quote, all we need to know initially is if it’s a bumper pull or 5th wheel hitch transport. If the RV or trailer we will be towing for you has a special type of bumper pull hitch, like a pintle hook or gooseneck hitch, or something else, you can let us know on the free quote form (or after you accept our quote).
Bumper Pull and 5th Wheel Towing Hitches
The two basic types of towing hitches are Bumper Pull and 5th Wheel. As the name implies, pumper pull hitches employ a steel ball mounted on the towing vehicle. The steel ball fits into a hollow in the tongue of your trailer. Variations on the bumper pull are gooseneck and pintle hook hitches.
The hitch on a 5th Wheel RV or like-equipped trailer fits into a heavy duty receiver mounted in the bed of a truck.
