What is Gross Vehicle Weight Rating (GVWR)?

Gross Vehicle Weight Rating (GVWR) is a maximum operating weight limit established for a vehicle or trailer by its manufacturer, and includes weight of the vehicle itself plus fuel, cargo, driver and passengers. For trailers, GVWR includes the weight of the trailer tongue. GVWR information is usually found on a sticker or placard on the driver’s side doorframe of a vehicle, and/or in the owner’s manual or registration documents, or on the frame or tongue of a trailer.
